About Roam Rome
Roam Rome was founded from a lifelong bond with the Eternal City and a desire to share it in a way that feels authentic and personal. Rooted in Roman life yet shaped by years abroad, the perspective here brings a rare balance: seeing the city as a local and through the eyes of a traveler.

The idea began simply, with itineraries created for friends and colleagues. Each plan balanced landmarks with daily life, weaving the Colosseum with quiet courtyards, Vatican galleries with local markets, and evening strolls through piazzas where Romans gather. Over time, what started as favors grew into a philosophy: travel should not be rushed or standardized, it should feel like a genuine connection to a place.

Rome is a city of layers. Three thousand years of history can sit within a single walk: ancient temples beside Renaissance palaces, Baroque fountains a turn away from contemporary cafés. The city reveals itself more deeply when explored with care: a Caravaggio quietly hanging in a neighborhood church, a mosaic tucked into a side chapel, a trattoria where recipes have been passed down for generations. These details are easy to miss without local knowledge.
Roam Rome was built to uncover these details. Rather than tours or pre-set packages, every experience is curated around the traveler. Some journeys lean toward art and history, others toward food and wine; many combine both with time to wander.
At its heart, Roam Rome is about connection: connection to place, through art, food, and neighborhoods that hold the city’s spirit; connection to people, through warm hospitality and shared tables; and connection to the journey itself, paced to feel natural, balanced, and memorable.
Rome is revealed in details: stone, light, and the routines of daily life.

These glimpses of stone, light, and rhythm add texture to the journey. They remind us that Rome is not only monuments but neighborhoods, courtyards, and everyday life unfolding around them. To pause here is to understand the city more deeply before moving toward its grander scenes.
About the Founder
Roam Rome was created by Jovanna Selvaggi, a Roman native whose story bridges two worlds. Born and raised in the city’s historic neighborhoods, she spent nearly three decades in Boston, immersed in technology, design, and cross-cultural work. That time abroad sharpened her perspective: the ability to experience Rome with the deep familiarity of a local, and the fresh eyes of a traveler returning home.
Her path into travel design began organically, building itineraries for friends and colleagues who wanted to see Rome beyond the postcard. What started as favors grew into a calling: crafting days that balance the timeless landmarks with the rhythms of daily life. Colosseum mornings and Vatican afternoons are never rushed, but woven with quiet courtyards, markets, and evenings where the table is already waiting.
With a background in technology and creative industries, Jovanna brings both structure and imagination to each curated experience. Attention to logistics is matched with a love for detail: a mosaic tucked inside a chapel, a family trattoria where recipes pass through generations, a hill-town vineyard at golden hour.
Returning to Rome was also a return to roots. Through Roam Rome, she shares not just itineraries, but a way of traveling: authentic, unhurried, and deeply connected to place. Each journey is designed to help travelers discover Rome and its surroundings as she knows them-layered, surprising, and memorable.

The work is simple: listen well, plan with care, and let the city do the rest.
