I run Roam Rome. I was born and raised in Rome, spent years in the US working in design and logistics, then came back. That time away changed how I see the city: the deep familiarity of someone who grew up here, and the perspective of someone who left and returned.
How it started
It began as a favour. Friends asked for help with itineraries and private transport, so trips were less stressful for them and for me when I travelled too. The work was practical: get the logistics right, leave room to enjoy the city, and stop people from wasting a short stay on the wrong neighbourhood or the wrong pace.
Over time those plans kept working, and the favour became a business. The standard did not change. Every itinerary, tip, and transfer is still built the way I would want it for someone I care about: careful, specific, and honest about what is worth your time.
I love Rome. It is the Eternal City, and I still feel that pull. Two thousand years can sit inside a single walk: an ancient temple beside a Renaissance palazzo, a Baroque fountain a turn away from a contemporary café.
The city rewards anyone who slows down enough to notice it. A Caravaggio hanging quietly in a neighbourhood church. A mosaic tucked into a side chapel. A trattoria where the recipes have not changed in three generations.
Loving Rome also means looking after the people who come to see it. You are not a crowd to move through. You are guests with limited days, real budgets, and hopes that deserve more than a generic checklist. Part of my care is practical: I steer you toward neighbourhoods, routes, and places I trust, so you can enjoy the city with confidence and feel at ease while you are here.
What I do
Rather than tours or pre-set packages, I build plans around you: your dates, your pace, and what you actually want from the city. Some days lean toward art and history, others toward food and wine. Many weave both, with time left over to wander.
The tips come from places I know personally: streets I walk, tables I return to, routes that make sense on the ground. My goal is not to hand you a longer list. It is to curate what fits, understand what you care about, and leave out what does not, including spots that look appealing online but are not where I would send someone I care about.
I am thorough on purpose. Timing, geography, bookings, how you get from place to place, and the small practical details get checked before a plan goes out, because a careful plan is the difference between a trip that feels easy and one that feels like work. The method is simple: I listen well, plan with care, and let Rome do the rest.
